Pink Love || Valentines Makeup & Lookbook

“Do small things with great love” – Mother Teresa

Whether you’re celebrating or being a couch potato (like me) you can’t help but feel the love on Valentines Day.

I put together a super simple look that was quite effortless to be honest. I found a gorgeous navy piece at my nearest Woolworths and thought it would be the perfect Valentines outfit for a night out with bae or your favourite girls.

A red lip is always such a good contrast against navy however, I paired the dress with some pinky/nude makeup for a softer and more youthful glowly look.

Let’s start with the makeup deets:

Btw, you should definitely use the products you already have. The following is just what works for me. There’s no need to splurge unnecessarily or think that you can’t recreate a look just because you don’t have the exact items people mention. Work with what you have!! It will still turn out fab. Anyway the make up deets, Shiara?

So I did my usual base.

I went with the Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions Foundation and the Wet n Wild Photofocus Concealer . I can’t stop raving about this concealer. It’s great value for money (R50-R65) and leaves your undereye looking airbrushed. LA Girl HD Concealer for cream contour and NYX Cosmetics Highlight and Contour palette to set and enhance the cream contour. A pinky matte blush in ‘berry me up’ from Essence and the highlight from the NYX palette.

The drama aka the eyes:

I love a blown out and blended eye. So I did just that . . . in pink. I hardly use colour so this was quite fun and I loved how it turned out. I used colours ‘1’ and ‘2’ from the Swiitch Beauty Unicorn Sauce Palette in the crease and lower lash line before “cutting the crease” with the same Wet n Wild Photofocus Concealer. I then layered colour ‘3’ over the concealer and tight lined with some black liner. The Eyelure lashes in 17 just pulled everything together and completed the eye look.

Fyi, I don’t recommend the Unicorn Sauce Palette. I used it because it is the only palette I have with bold colours at the moment. I find that I break out EVERYTIME after using this palette – around the eye and forehead area. It’s sad to say but I think if you have sensitve skin, you should give Swiitch Beauty a miss. Have you tried their products? What’s your experience been with them?

For lips I went with the Wet n Wild matte lipstick in ‘Mocha’ and NYX Liquid Lingerie ‘Push up’ in the middle for a poutier pout.

This dress is EVERYTHING. Wrap dresses can be quite flattering on everyone so if you’re scared . . . don’t be!! This drapey number with flirty frills leaves you feeling sexy yet cute and girly. Granted, it might be a bit too short for everyone (it is the shortest thing I’ve ever purchased) but there’s always stockings. A lacy cami or a little safety pin can also make the neck line higher if that is another concern.

Forgive me for not taking high quality pictures and accessorizing properly but I just had to share it with you in time for Valentines day. It retails for R399 at woolies.

I hope everyone has an amazing Valentines day. Paint the town PINK.

Till next time, Shiara
