The much raved about NYX Eye Shadow base has been on the shelves for quite some time now. I’ve had this product for a couple months so this review is definitely long overdue.
I picked up the base in 03 ‘Skin tone’. A much lighter, almost stark white, shade is also available however I think ‘Skin tone’ is more wearable as the white shade can appear ashy.
The product claims “To hold, intensify and last longer”
Lets just get to it …
I have a love hate relationship with the packaging. It’s a very durable and neat looking circular container. I’m sure you’ve come across something similar? I do appreciate it’s sleek simple design BUT it is such a mission to get the product out without messing up my brush or the jar itself.
NYX really did do well with this product as it not only lives up but surpasses expectation. It does intensify and allow your eye look to last the entire day. I apply it all over the eye and set with a translucent powder to avoid the dreaded case of oily lids. I am very conscious of the extremely noticeable veins on my lids. The NYX base covers everything and leaves me a smooth canvas. The consistency is similar to a concealer and feels light on the eyes.
Notice how it covers the veins on my wrist as well? Extremely good coverage.
Is an eyeshadow base necessary in your make up kit? Yes and No. If you’ve just started with makeup then you can easily use your favourite concealer on the lids but do invest in a good quality eyeshadow base in the future.
